Village Promotes Officers
Following a unanimous vote, the East Canton Village Council has promoted two officers. Officer Jmon Wells to the Rank of Sergeant. Patrol Officer Erica Abramson from part-time to full-time status. Both officers have exemplified a high level of integrity and community policing.
Sergeant Wells has donated many hours to helping the youth in our community with his creation of the Smile Youth Mentoring Foundation. Mayor David Spencer announced after his swearing-in that a special guest would like to congratulate him. Canton Police Officer LaMar Sharpe, founder of the Be A Better Me Foundation, entered to commend Sergeant Wells. Officer Sharpe’s program was the inspiration and guiding force to turning Sergeant Wells life around and starting his career in law enforcement and his desire to pay it forward.
After the meeting, Mayor Spencer, council members, and community members congratulated each officer and thanked them for their service. Chief Thomas Hinerman was very excited and spoke highly of every officer in his department as he presented Officer Wells with his sergeant strips and badge. The Village Police strongly advocates breaking down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve.
